Carp fishing

Postby Guest » Sun Jan 15, 2006 1:05 am

I have been a member of GAPS and have found their waters too hard and overcrowded and not the best for carp fishing.

How does the CAPS waters compare and which ones are good for carp.

I am looking to maybe join this year and i noticed that Layers pit requires 4 off work parties to join. Whats involved and when are they ??

I am based near to Colchester so waters nearer to that would be better.

Is it worth joining and would it be better than GAPS ??

caps is a good value for money club dont know anything about gaps though but if you choose the right water here you can find a less busy lake than some of the others we have

What do you mean well? Easy to catch, Good stock, Or good size of fish?
Look on the gallery should give you a good idea.

Sorry fella, but I think your looking in the wrong place as CAPS waters are not on par with any commercial type waters.

As we deal with, and care for quality fish stocks rather than quantity fishing in a barrel type environments.

You may of misunderstood me, i was more interested in a natural venue with good stocks (numbers not weight ) as the GAPS waters seem to be very hard to fish.

But not yet for the 2006/07 season. The membership joining details etc, will arrive in the shops, and on your doormat if you are an existing member, shortly after the AGM. The earilest that you will be able to join for next season is the begining of March approx.

This is all to do with the changes that need to be made to the booklet regarding rule changes etc that are dictated by the AGM, this then has to be printed etc etc.

olivers was a good water for multiple catches in the summer but it does slow down in the winter like everywhere else
in my experience 9-13lb being the average but i have seen some bigger including a twenty on the bank (not on my mat though  )

I am not having a go, but I have been advised not to display the stock levels within or lakes to non-members in case a few go walkies.

At times I despair and really want to jack it all in :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry:

Sorry but this is totally absurd as ANYBODY will know the details through word of mouth etc.

Thanks guys for all your info, i just wish some of the Gaps committee would look on here and see what a great site this is and what great venues you have compared to Barham, Alderson, Causeway etc.
