what do u think about leadcore do u think its a good thing or bad i would love to hear evry ones say i would say it dont realy bother me as long as thay dont use 2 ft of the stuff i would say use about 10 intches and no more iv picked up a 4 ft bundle thick stuff aswell as a hellcopter rig i was realy p**sed of that day it realy shocked me i think pepole just use it because its there and it looks good but dont realy know were or when to use it :stop:

Totally disagree with you Colin. I use leadcore in lengths of about 3 foot in order to 'pin' it down and for it's anti-tangle properties. I'm happy that it's completly safe so long as the rig is 'safe'.

In my mind there is no point in using it in 10 inch lengths. What is it doing in that short length?

I agree with Dave on that one. It's good stuff if used properly.

I read that Jim Shelley used 17 feet of it when he caught two tone, now that is excesive. No 3 feet is fine, andy more than that is just showing off.

i like to use it around 3-4 feet to keep the line pinned down i dont see the point of only using 10inches of the stuff you might as well use tubing because at that length i cant see it pinning much down

ok i agree if its safe but i dont like the idea of a helicopter rig wth 35 lb lead core and how is that safe mate. i dont think it is ok i said 10 intches maybee over the top but if that lead core helicoper rig gets snaged up on a snag how is that fish going to get out it cant i havent seen a lead core less than 35lb. but i dont realy go looking what is the lowest does any one know . and what if the line snaps and the fish carrys the 4 to 13 ft of lead core with it that is going to be 1 pi**ed off fish and could end up dieing. but the reason i say 10 is because i dont think it makes mutch difrence all i would use it for is two make sure my rig area is free of line and my erea isnt 13 ft away if your line spookes the fish off get some better high sinking line. i put a lenth of lead core in a tank and it sticks out alll over the place it dont hug the bottom its to stiff to do that.it just stays witch ever way it lands. dont want no arguments just a talk ok cheers

If your helicopter rig is set up properly, it is probably the safest rig to use with leadcore. A small amount of pressure exerted and your rig SHOULD just fall off the end, and pass over any trailing line. Any beads above your rig swivel should be able to pass over the knot easily, otherwise don't use it.

if you want to pin your line back use a flying backlead thats what i use

how would this work?you can only use tubing or leadcore not both!!helecopter rigs at the safist rigs available think about it.the lead snags on the bottom and the fish carries on swimming,then bead slides up towards the mainline and then off the end of the snapped rig leaving the fish towing a hooklength and nothing more.if i see you down a lake soon i will show you some rigs and how to get the best possible 'safety' out of them!

i no what rigs are and how they r done mate. but have u seen the new type in the books were u have lead core with a cut bit of rig tube on about an intch wide with a ruber bead on the cut bit of rig tube but this 1 was glued and i couldent hardly pull it of thats what im saying budd.but i under stand the helicopter is safe but not that way say that means on the rig i found if that snaped the fish would have a 3 oz lead with 4 ft of lead core now would u call that rig safe mate. i like helicopter rigs i use it but not like that

any rig that has not been made exactly how it should is not a safe rig mate, it kinda takes the whole love/hate leadcore situation away really. if someone glued the tail rubber on a lead clip this setup would be just as bad if not worse!

when leadcore is used correctly it can have major advantages over things like tubing.

yes u understand mate thank you yes i do think lead core can be handy but i just dont see not mutch point in it when some pepole do stupid things with it and it is not good fishing budd.

at end of day using it badly will end in bad results such as fish dying i just usually hope if they do not understand "safe rigs" then they hopefully do not have enough skill to hook a big fish but usually its these morons that do exactly that!

if used sensibly then it has no problem specially on running rigs!

i use 5-6ft of leadcore and know how to use n it isnt to show off
its because i wnat my line as slack and as welll pinned down as much as possible !!!
