I cant shed any light on the subject but I would be surprized if the EA was to remove chub from a river!!! I too fish the section on a regular basis and I know for a fact that huge chub do exsist. I would be interested to hear what the EA have to say.

ill keep you posted m8 apparently the people who supposedly netted the river were questioned by a couple of anglers as to where the fish were going and were told " thats a secret " now i know rumours get spread and the truth often gets bent in the passage of time but my father and his mate were told this on the last day of the season by 3 or 4 different people i just hope the fish havent been stolen as you say there are huge chub in this stretch as well as some specimen roach and perch apparenty it was netted from the footbridge from the avenues end to the new footbridge going towards the snooker centre

I spoke to my friend in the EA and they said they carried out a survey on the river at the back end of last year. In order to accurately record the details the fish were taken back to Kelvedon where they were counted, measured and inpected. Following this they were ALL taken back to the Chelmer and released back into the river.

Sounds far more like it! The EA do this on the Stour as well. A couple of years back some large Zander were reported. I am sure the results the EA get would make interesting reading.

P.S If anyone is interested we are going to have a specialist group meeting this Monday night at the Belle vue. (21st).
