I was fishing this weekend and was asked if I was going to be fishing "in the two weeks holiday"? by some young lad.

I felt like crying   and still do.

Instead of fishing Tolly, maybe you should have some additional English lessons from a private tutor during your two week break. Your spelling and grammar is attrocious boy!

I'd rather pay £120+ for my ticket to have a maxium 1000 members and no under 18's allowed to night fish.

You can't say that 'all school children and under 18's' are bad news becasue most of us are alot better behaved on lakes compared to some adults who get tanked up on a night. Put thier lights on and talk loud.

You guys are too sterotypical.

fair point sam but i think serious juniors can afford £60
the ones i spoke to were only fishing coz it was cheap and their parents don't want hanging around, they should stay on the rivers and small fish dayticket lakes learning their water craft like most of us have done not fishing lakes with potential 30lbers in. i just think there is gonna be a problem soon with these kids taken a peg each night fishing with little reels and crap line hooks etc and no knowledge of handelling fish.

True point but there is quite a few experianced young anglers.
I haven't seen many kids except from the time millet city was in the car park.

It is the same with some adults some adults have not much knowledge.
Do you think they should they should go and fish small rivers and lakes?

When you have bought your ticket you can fish where you want. Along as you abide by the rules i don't think it matters how you fish aslong as you have the right equipment for the job. Like if you were going for carp a sufficant unhooking mat a carp firendly net. Decent end tackle, safe rigs.

I can see your point as some anglers do not do this. Mainly younger kids and yes it would be good for kids to go onto other day tickets and learn but they do need more experianced people to help them on there way.

me and sam go fishing together regularly and i think that we are better behaved and take our fishing more seriously than many "grown up" anglers that are fishing big carp waters today.

i just think there is gonna be a problem soon with these kids taken a peg each night fishing with little reels and crap line hooks etc and no knowledge of handelling fish.

me and my friends have worked hard and saved up for there fishing gear i personally have spent thousands in all. I have been fishing for around 10 years now and have been taught how to protect and hold fish while they are on the bank.

Inexperience is not restriceted to juniors, I know many junior members that visit the shop and many of them could teach some of the adults a thing or two. Many of the young members are very eager and put many hours of study into learning their craft and constantly ask questions, whereas some adults simply put on a hook and float and then blame the water when they dont catch. Junior members are a necessary part of the club and are the future of the club. If juniors join a club they will often stay with the club for many years as opposed to the many adults who flit from club to club.
Im afraid if people dont want juniors then they must join the very expensive syndicates (which often attract inexperienced adults who can't catch big fish on normal waters and need waters that are stocked with lots of biggies to stand a chance).
Cheers
