Very good. The funniest reply I've seen for ages. Really tickled me....

isn't it strange how these threads go off at a tangent;

First talking about spodding,

Then taking the michael out of Malley,

Then about films,

Now about what wheels Madabout drives.

I don't understand why people spod in lakes that are abundant with natural food. Surely it is just making things harder for yourselves.

It is also fashionable to catch the fish we are feeding.

I have had some great results last year while spodding at Layer, often while those not spodding blanked.

I think it works best at layer because there are so many fish in the lake and they have worked out that that sound means food :D

All depends whats in the spod. I have set up next to other anglers who were also spodding and then caught fish after fish while they blanked. One chap moved round the other side of the lake.

i think if you fish for one fish at a time stick to not spodding. if you like o catch schoals of fish get the bait out. i must say spods and throwing sticks are normally as important as a good unhooking mat if you are out for a serious session.

I have to say that i agree with madabout on the spoding issue i feel that spodding is a difficult thing to get right but when done correctly it can be a very succesful method of catching large amounts of fish. And me myself as a carper use this method of fishing as much as possible because i feel it works :?.

The real intereting thing about spodding at Bovi 2 is that, in my humble experience, it doesnt work. But there you go. Other than to introduce a small bed of bait at a feature.
It's all about the fishing

Shame they don't allow boats, then you could row the bait out with your ready made terminal tackle and drop it all over the side at once. Then row back climb into your bivvy, slip your bivvy socks on and sleep all weekend till (if) your alarm sounds and you catch a fish with a name. Well apart from when you wander half way round the lake with the rods still in the water.

oh no not boats
can u imagine all the kids that tend to wander round and annoy you in your swim would be rowing across the lakes to see you and having races around the lake i think its a terrible idea mate i have used one in france and had a great result due to the accuracy of the baiting as you say but we were all grown ups on the lake

Well if you don't like boats or spodding then how about an air drop of bait attached to a marker buoy. It would go nicely with a helicopter rig. Just hope the propellers don't blow away their camouflaged boilie table.

I would love to join and continue with helpful advice on carp fishing(I use the word fishing in the loosest possible way) but alas I am not a member of CAPS. However I will still keep my eye on the forum as I am looking for somewhere that isn't full of weekend campers casting out 3oz leads half way across with matching buzz bars/reels and rods so if unsucessful in my hunt then I will join.
Must dash as I am now setting up a bussiness where you can pre book your swim and matching tackle and have someone bait up and cast out for you, any takers?
