Sadly Neil Amos aged only 41, former manager of Chelmsford Angling and Brentwood Angling died at the weekend after a long battle with cancer.
I have personally known "Big" Neil for many years and will always remember him and his antics with a smile. One of his famous achievements was the "Bait Goose". He built a radio controlled bait boat using part of a goose decoy so that it was disguised to look like a goose and not spook the residents of the lake. It worked fine dropping the bait and rigs in the water without gaining the attention of the other birdlife on the water, that was until one day an angry male swan took umbridge at this stranger on his water and attacked the goose sinking it. Fortunately Neil saw the funny side to the event and had many a laugh telling the story to his friends and customers.
Neil may now be gone but with antics like that he will never be forgotten.
