New Venue.........

Postby The Laird » Fri Sep 19, 2008 3:51 pm

There is a strong rumour that the committee have found us a new venue which will be opening soon.....

Comprising of Three compact waters:

A Bagging lake containing roach, rudd, skimmer bream and small carp to 3 and 4lbs.

A Coarse Match Lake containing mostly silver fish roach, rudd and bream up to 7 & 8lbs, tench to 6lbs and carp to 6lbs. There are also crucian carp to 3lbs.

A Specimen Carp Lake predominately a carp specimen water with fish of 20lbs plus. Edited

If this is true (which I am pretty confident of) then three (or many more)cheers to the committee.

I think we are getting a little "Over Exuberant" here, but hey what the F**k.

It's called Matchstick Island and can be found in Maysbrooke Park in Dagenham.

There are three waters.

No.1 a specimen water with the odd Sainsbury Trolley up to 25lb and at least one Ford Cortina 30lb+ other than that its mainly push bikes.

No.2 Has the odd trolley upto to 12lb and is known to have at least one Vespa 20lb.

No.3 is full of Silvers (Used Condoms) nice selection though, there's Strawberry, Banana, Ultra Sensitive and Ribbed, these go up to 3lb.

Enjoy

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

here its not an easy match lake , but only the ones who test fished it could tell us . but i bet they pulled some good fish out to convinse them to go for it . just hope its one of the lakes that will get anglers to it and take the presure off the other lakes .

The term "Specimen" is used to differentiate from the other two waters at the venue, as the stock is generally larger carp. However it is not a big water and not in the league of some of the clubs other specimen lakes, it could be a fun runs water though.

I dont think it will take any pressure of the other waters, but it should generate more members for the club as it is in an area not covered by the club.

The official sources say it should open to the club around the begining of next month, so look out for the official statement from the committee.

Steve,

Enjoyed reading your post :) - Spookily, Just after I read your post I went off to a bit of a family do & a group from Dagger's told me that The Chase had just produced a 49lb cat last week and that Matchstick has also produced a few decent carp too :!: Yet I remember "The chase" losing most of its fish through lack of oxygen / weed growth & "Matchstick" looking more like steptoe's yard than a fishery

Yer did hear a romour the lakes in question are between colchester and tiptree and from another local club, I've now been told they are infact somewhere around thorpe'ish area, approx 30mins from colchester????...... could ofcourse be more crap ??????

Bit like playing pin the tail on the donkey this........
still its all good fun to guess and sure the committee will enjoy reading ....

Even so, congrates for finding another venue, its not easy these days.
Lakes seem to change hands very quickly and often before its public knowledge.

The fishery is comprised of Three Waters

Specimen Lake – Approximately 2 ½ acres 20 swims,
Match Lake - Approximately 2 acres with 30 swims
Top Lake – Approximately 3 ½ acres 12 swims “Runs Water”

There are "Site Specific" rules that must be adherred to.

This water will be a "Dawn to Dusk" fishery until 1st April 2009 when Night Fishing will be allowed on a "Permit Only" basis and you will be able to purchase these from specific local agents (Details to Follow). One of the additional rules, will be that you have to "Sign In" at the bailiff hut when Night Fishing as the Landowner has been plagued by our Carp Munching Friends, that like to visit during the night.

You can find this water by driving down the A120 to the Horsley Cross Roundabout, then take the 2nd on the right, then turn left, then left again and the fishery is at the other end of Great Oakley Village on the left hand side.
