good runs water!

Postby karl » Tue Nov 18, 2008 6:16 pm

Went down two weeks ago on Wednesday and again Thursday. In total I landed 33 carp, from 13lb - 19lb 12oz including an 18lb 2oz koi! Also pulled out of a couple, mainly me being lazy not tying fresh rigs.

Well worth a visit for a run this winter.

Still seem to be catching most of mine in the edge on the shelf. Have caught fish from nearly every over hanging tree on the lake. All have fallen to boilie with a pouchfull sprayed over the top. Nothing fancy. Started using smelly sticks now it's getting colder seems to get bites. I can see I'd being a very prolific place in the warmer months.

I've got no secrets, if you need a pointer feel free to ask

yeh i had it on the big swim fishing to the right to the snags,i fancied that spot the first time i walked around but was taken by some kids.looked perfect when i went, back of a chilly wind and the first place the sun hit when it came up :D i prob would have had another one or 2,but reeled in after a quiet 2 hours with 2 tangled rigs embarrased

I was fishing single hookbaits over about 20 baits just pulted around off the trees trying to lure them out have you fished there much jim?merry christmas everyone by the way!

thats the way to catch 'em! for some reason the other corner fished tight to the big tree produces a bit more than the others. in november and early december i was havin over 20 fish a day from the same spot.

also has anyone had anything bigger than 21lb 12oz yet? there is supposed to be 2x 25's but not sure to how true these rumours are. will have to see.

been catching a few more on pva bags filled with liquids and 12mm fluoro pop ups into open water.

it seems that many tactics work on here. will have to wait untill the ice has gone before i give it another go with something else.

yeh the first time i went i was there for literally 2-3 hours and lost one on a 12mm pop up with a stick.i dont think they are overly fussy its just gettin on the bigger shoals if you like of fish with a good (safe) presentation...like most places really!does anyone know why halibut pellets are banned here?would be interesting to know..tho im guessing its because of houchins?karl you have been killing the place mate have you had many kois?saw a few pics in the hut of some stunning fish wouldnt mind getting a few of those!
btw just out of curiosity if anyone knows do they get caught much off the top in summer?

I've had a White koi (18lb 2oz) and a smaller one around 12lb which was White with red and black speckles! I think there great! I still want the orange one that apparently goes 20.

I have been doing well... Fished today (first day not frozen) and blanked! I even fished three rods! That's the way it goes I suppose. I was going to go with maggots but have been advised not to as it's rammed with silvers!

Good luck to anyone that's going, hope you have a good one!

Tight lines!
