Set in the heart of Constable country this is wider, deeper and slower stretch of river is mainly noted for its roach. Several 20 lb plus bags of roach were caught during 1997 with skimmers also showing. There are also quite a few bream along here and several 100 lb bags have been caught over the years although a long walk downstream towards Dedham is usually needed to find them. Carp up to 18 lb also get caught here along with the odd tench.

Fishing is from Stanford Bridge downstream as far as the club sign above Dedham Mill.

The fishing along this stretch is shared with C.P.S.

Click here to see the AERIAL MAP Having left the A12 on the Stratford St Mary junction, follow the road down into the village. Having crossed the river next to Le Talbooth restaurant, park immediately on the right in a layby. The river is 20 yards away. The far end of the stretch can be reached from Dedham. Park near Dedham Mill, cross the river and follow the public footpath back upstream until the field where the CAPS sign can be seen.
